A new tax credit of up to $8,000 is now available for qualified first–time homebuyers purchasing a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. Below are some details of the Home Buyer Tax Credit** at a glance. Please consult your Tax Advisor for additional information. The revised tax credit:

• Is for first–time homebuyers only.

• Does not have to be repaid.

• Is equal to 10 percent of the home’s purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000.

• Is available for single taxpayers with incomes up to $75,000 and married couples with incomes up to $150,000. Reduced credit is available for those with incomes of up to $95,000 (single) and $170,000 (married.)
